Discouragement of Desperation

Abu Huraira (r.a) said: Allah's Messenger (s.a.w.s.) passed while some of his Companions were laughing.
He said to them: if you know what I know you should laugh very little and weep a lot.
The Jibrael came to him and said: Allah says to you: Do not make my slaves feel desperate (from my mercy).
Then the Prophet (s.a.w.s.) came back and said to us: Be hopeful, be happy.
(The chain of narrators is sound and narrated by Ibn Hiban.)

There is always hope as far as we believe that the mercy of Allah supersedes His anger.
